Making an Easy DIY Center Finder from Plywood

03:36
Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/CosmasBauer Using a speed square and a regular square as a center finder works well, however it is a bit awkward over time. Making a dedicated center finder from plywood is very quick and easy. I cut an L-shaped piece from a piece of baltic birch plywood. Then I glued on another piece at 45 degrees and that was that.

Building my Compact Tilting Arbor Table Saw with Basic Tools

13:25
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cosmasbauer/ In early 2017 I felt the urge to build a new table saw. For materials I decided to use mainly plywood. Plywood is stron, dimensionally stable and wear resistant at the edges. For the Motor of the saw I used my Bosch PKS 66. The most interesting feature of this saw is the trunion tilt mechanism. Though it requires some accuracy and planning to make this mechanism actually work, it allows the saw blade to stay at it's place at the surface of the table even when the saw it tilted. The secret is that the trunions allow for a tilting axies that is excatly in plain with the surface of the table top. The circular saw is a bosch gks 66 ce and has since then been swapped out for a makita 5903 because it's more powerful and allows for more depth of cut.

Making a Metal Melting Furnace (Simple, Effective, Propane)

06:12
At the new place I can't just light a stinking coal fire in the backyard like I used to, so I had to find a cleaner and more controlled way of melting aluminium. I thought about building an electric furnace, but that seemed to be too much work and too prone to failure because of breking coils and comes with a number of other problems. So I decided to make a propane furnace and keep it as simple as possible. As an outer shell I used a steel barrel. As a mold for the inner chamber I used the container of an old herbicide sprayer, because I couldn't find a bucket of the right size and didn't want to buy one. The substance of the furnace was made from a mixture of fire cement and perlite dry fill insulation. The perlite will insulate the furnace, hence making it more efficient, and the fire cement will glue the perlite particles together to form a solid mass. This also makes this furnace remarkably lightweight.

Palm Router Dust Collection Gadget (Bosch Colt/GKF 600)

05:54
It occured to me that I almost exclusively use this palm router (Bosch Colt/GKF 600) for all the routing work in my workshop. But always trying to catch the dust with the router in one hand and the shop vac hose in the other is really annoying. I thought I'd make a little gadget that attaches the shop vac hose directly to the router. As it turned out my thinking of how the cutting tool would eject the chips was a bit flawed.

And of course such thing does much more useful stuff than just the lathe. Ideas would be a grinder a disc sander and so on.

Table saws like these, without some sort of whimpy wannabe sliding table are rare in Europe. And I wanted a decent one. Making Hand Wheels: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hse8MiVmm6o Chop saw to circular saw conversion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9093a_TV_o Cutting the table saw insert hole: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sC1QGMxlbg Cutting Sheet metal acurately: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwUdZvshuCA For the body of the saw I made a simple box out of birch plywood. The corners were rabbet joined and pulled together with screws. After that was done I made the cutout for the crank shaft using a template and the jigsaw. The motor unit from the Scheppach saw (TKU) was hung inside the box on two home made steel hinges. Then i made a follower nut and mounted it to the motor unit using a piece of steel shaft. I drilled the hole for the tilting spindle which I used an M 20 threaded rod for and mounted it to the box using a pillow block. After that I made the sub-top out of birch plywood which I mounted the steel table tops on top of. After the base for the saw was done and the home made fence system attached it was basically ready for use! I took the motor unit of my Dad's old job site saw and built the rest of the saw around it. Thanks, Dad!

Bosch Router External Switch (Bosch MRC23EVS / GOF 1600 / GMF 1600)

Building an external switch for my Bosch GOF 1600 or Bosch MRC23EVS for use in a router lift, a panto router or what ever. That router motor has a nice cylindrical body, perfect for the use with homemade jigs and fixtures. There is only one problem - it has no switch in it! The switch is integrated in the plunge base which connects to the motor via a sliding contact. I recreated the male part of the contact as it is integrated in the base. I used the circuit I got from the bosch replacement part center. This circuit is really cheap (3€). The cool part about this is that I can noch switch my pantorouter on and off very conveniently without letting go of the handle.

Easy Blast Gate for the Dust Collector

03:05
I decided that the blast gate that I had come up with is just too complicated and not reliable enough. So I rebuilt it in much simpler fashion using the in my opinion best way of making a blast gate out there. It's just a couple sectors of a circle of plywood screwed together. Four pieces of plywood and three swrews and that's it. What would be the slider in a conventional blast gate is in this case hinged at the centre of the circle which avoids any kind of linear motion of the slider which is prone to jamming. Making Outfeed/ Infeed Support Rollers

09:16
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cosmasbauer/ I needed something for supporting long stock on my machines. I seriously considered just buying some cheapo roller stands but that would be boring. Also I wanted the roller stands to be able to tilt sideways because of my uneven shopfloor. So I decided to make them myself and make them an accessory for my existing sawhorses. They would clamp onto the top beam of the sawhorses using bar clamps. This way the side tilting funktionality wuould be included, so to speak. I made the roller out of a piece of sturdy PVC pipe and the frame from some cheap spruce plywood. This is a very simple project that anyone with the bare minimum of tools can make.

Wood and Steel: Building a Dining Table out of Oak and Steel Tubing

10:42
If you want to see a short version of this video, click here: https://youtu.be/orIG8S2GnA8 We had this really small and ugly kitchen table for quite a long time and after I had finished my degree in autuum of 2016 I had a bit of free time to build a couple of things for our place. This table was one of these things. It combines a welded steel frame with a solid oak table top. The short sides of the table top are heavily beveled and just like the trapeze shape legs they give the table somewhat of an elegant look. Welding up the 2mm wall thickness pipe with the stick welder was a challenge, but as some of you might know I really have it with welding even tiny things using my trusty stick machine so that wasn't a real problem. The wood for the top underwent the standard milling routine of jointing, edge jointing, planing and sawing with a few other nifty steps that are shown in this video. For example edge jointing to a perfect fit using the circular saw. And cutting the heavy bevel using a custom jig and the circular saw. After gluing up the pieces I filled all the defects with a black filler paste, added a bow tie spline to a crack to keep it drom widening, and finished the table top using four coats of counter top oil. At last we assembled the table in our kitchen. All you need is an angle grinder, a drill and a welder.

DIY Metal Cutting Table Saw (Kickback)

03:32
Bit of an over obvious consequence of my last video. I took my circular and put it upside-down under a pieces of sheet metal to use it for cutting metal parts. It uses a dry cut saw blade for mild steel. It works very well but throws hot chips in every direction. Also you can not lower the blade when cutting metal so the blade is always "dangerously" exposed. And I know Kickback and so on.

An exhaust fan really makes work more enjoyable especially when you have to do a lot of grinding and welding and other stuff that pollutes the air. If you're one of the fancy ones who's actually concerned staying healty and stuff this might be for you. Or if you just want to brag about your shop reaching the next level of safetivity. Where did I get the fan and what are the specs? - ebay, I don't know What glue do I use? - polyurethane construction adhesive Where did I get the RC relay? - local hardware store Where did I get the transparent stuff? - local hardware store

Compact Table Saw Part 1: Blade Lift Mechanism

10:48
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cosmasbauer/ In early 2017 I felt the urge to build a new table saw. This is the first part of my series "Compact Table Saw". This part shows the making of the compact table saw's motor unit. For materials I decided to use mainly plywood. Plywood is strong, dimensionally stable and wear resistant at the edges.

Cutting Steel using Circular Saw and a Dry Cut Blade

04:19
Just a short video about using the circular saw to cut a piece of sheet metal. I think for some people this might be a bit intimidating. Actually it is quite safe and comfortable and certainly very useful. Specs of the blade: 190 (diameter) x 2,2 (width of the teeth/ kerf) x 30 (hole diameter) Z 38 (count of teeth) SZ 88 (feed per tooth 0,09mm(could be, absolutely not sure about that, does anyone know for certain what these letters mean??)) n max.10.000 (maximum rpm) HW (Tungsten Carbide)

Table Saw Pin Wrench

05:38
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cosmasbauer/ Undoing the star knobs that attach my crosscut fence to the crosscut table used to be a pain because they would always bind and there is no space for the fingers there anyways. So My solution was to build a pin wrench that engages those knobs. The wrench consists of the main part that was cut out of a piece of sheet metal and the two steel pins that were welded ito place. I even give it knive like handle scales out of oak that were attached using epoxy and threaded rod pins. These hold onto these scales very securely. I even took the time to add a lanyard hole, which I'm not going to use for a lanyard of course but for hanging the wrench on a screw.

Also it is heavy and bulky and I really don't use it all that much. So to replace it I built a vertical stand for my belt sander. I think it is better then the disc sander in almost every way. Cheaper Abrasive, variable speed (that the disc sander also kind of has by moving in and out on the disc), better dust collection and so on. I already really like it. I did make the mistake to paint it a dark colour so it doesn't really show up all that good in the video.

I have a Bosch GOF 1600 or Bosch MRC23EVS 2.3HP and I want to use it in my homemade router lift under the wing of my homemade table saw. Because this router can only be activated by the trigger on it's base I had to tinker a little to get it to run in my new router lift.

Miter Saw Station | Stop Block System | Dust Collection Test | Metabo KGS 254 PLUS

07:47
Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/CosmasBauer Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cosmasbauer/ Just a quick overfiew of my miter saw station. It is a box made from 18 mm spruce plywood. The wings are foldable, so that the space behind the station isn't completely lost. The back panel sits in the same plane as the wing-supports, which makes the entire station incredibly stiff and rigid. The saw is a Metabo KGS 254 PLUS. It is a good saw but just like with most miter saws, dust collection is not very good. It bounced a lot in the slow motion clips because I had to operate it quickly. My camera can only record three seconds in slow motion... Also I couldn't brace myself because I had to hit the record button and cut at the same time. How to Make Long F-Clamps | Homemade Steel Clamps | The new Grinder in Action | Patreon Announcement

17:30
If you like my work and this channel, you can support me here: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/CosmasBauer Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cosmasbauer/ This week I built a set of six long bar clamps. I bought a couple meters of flat steel, cut it into pieces and welded everything back together in the shape of a clamp. Simple! For the spindles I used pieces of M16 threaded rod. Talking about machinery, all you really need for making a set of these clamps is a grinder, a drill and a welder. However, a chop saw is very convenient and of course I just had to show off my new homemade belt grinder. Homemade Cyclone Vacuum Cleaner

02:45
Build video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkRSObkOgn8 I made a cyclone attachement for my vacuum cleaner. Works pretty darn well! A cyclone filter out most of the dust before it even enters the vacuum cleaner. That means that the filter bag will last almost forever. The vacuum cleaner can in this configuration be used as a shop vac as all the debris gets collected in the bucket that can be emptied very easily.
